U.S. stocks were on fire as traders closely watched developments between the U.S. and Iran as both sides opened fire. In a post on Truth Social Thursday night, President Donald Trump said "there was no damage to the three destroyers, but there was significant damage to the Iranian attackers." He also reportedly said that the ceasefire was still in effect, saying the attacks on Iranian targets were just "a slight touch".

Oil prices rose again after the US and Iran exchanged gunfire in the Strait of Hormuz in the context of both sides claiming the other side attacked first. The U.S. Central Command said the military "stopped Iran's unprovoked attacks and responded with self-defense attacks" as three U.S. Navy destroyers passed through the waterway.
