Asian stocks diverged. South Korea's KOSPI index rose the most in the region and recorded a fifth consecutive session, driving from Samsung Electronics and SK hynix in the wave of memory chip stocks. Japan's Nikkei 225 index rose among semiconductors and large-cap technology stocks. Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell the deepest in the region as investors reacted negatively to Tencent's Q2 business results.

The price of SJC gold bars in the afternoon of August 14 decreased by 1 million VND per volume in both directions, to 140.30 million VND bought and 143.30 million VND sold, falling from the area of 144 million VND. Bao Tin Minh Chau fell the most with 1.4 million VND in the buying direction and 2.4 million VND in the selling direction.

By July 31, the credit balance of the whole system reached VND 20.26 million billion, an increase of 8.98% compared to the end of 2025, the difference between credit outstanding and capital mobilized in dong has reached about VND 2 million billion. The ratio of bad debts on the balance sheet at the end of June was at 3.31%, especially real estate outstanding loans accounted for 25.5% of the total outstanding loans of the economy with bad debts increasing by 10.5%. The State Bank will assign credit growth targets in 2027 in the direction of cutting limits for credit institutions that do not comply with the direction of reducing interest rates
