On August 28, VN-Index only increased by 0.56 points to 1,832.12 points when VHM and TCB took away a total of nearly 2.4 points, just enough to suppress the efforts of SSB, STB and VPB, foreign investors net bought VND 334.99 billion and poured VND 241.08 billion into FPT.

Asian markets were sharply divergent. Japan's Nikkei 225 index rose the best in the region thanks to technology and semiconductor equipment stocks responding to the rising wave from Wall Street. South Korea's KOSPI index fell the deepest in the region as selling pressure continued to focus on memory chips. Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index was almost stationary, China's Shanghai Composite Index fell slightly as domestic cash flows remained cautious.
