Hong Kong's Hang Seng fell the most, Japan's Nikkei 225 fell slightly. South Korea's KOSPI reversed the trend, China's Shanghai Composite was almost stationary. Pressure on the Japanese market came from the yield on 10-year government bonds that exceeded the 3% mark, a level not seen in three decades, plus expectations that the Bank of Japan will raise interest rates to support the yen at its mid-September meeting.

The price of SJC gold bars turned down after the holidays. At Saigon Gold, Silver and Gems Company, the buying price was 144.40 million VND per volume and the selling price was 147.40 million VND, both down 1.3 million VND compared to the 1/9 session. Bao Tin Minh Chau went against the common ground when raising the buying price to 145.60 million VND and the selling price to 149.60 million VND.
