- US stocks rose slightly to new record highs on Monday (November 1) - the first trading day of November - after markets successfully broke out of a historically difficult period. At the end of the session, the Dow Jones index added 94.28 points (0.26%) to 35,913.84 points, closing at a new record high. The S&P 500 index edged up nearly 0.2% to 4,613.67, also ending the session at an all-time high. The Nasdaq Composite Index advanced 0.6 percent to 15,595.92 and also posted a record-high close.
