- US stocks jumped on Thursday on a resurgence in cyclical stocks after a sharp sell-off in the previous session on worries about the Omicron variant. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 617.75 points to 34,639.79, helped by a strong 7.5% gain in Boeing shares. The S&P 500 index advanced 1.4% to 4,577.10. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.8 percent to 15,381.30. The Russell 2000 index of small-cap stocks, which includes companies that are most sensitive to information from the economy, rose 2.7%.
