Stocks rose sharply on Wednesday (May 4) from 2022 lows, after the US Federal Reserve (Fed) raised interest rates by 0.5 percentage points as previously forecast and Fed Chairman Jerome Powell rule out the central bank becoming more aggressive in its anti-inflation campaign. Ending the session, the Dow Jones index rose 932.27 points (equivalent to 2.81%) to 34,061.06 points. The S&P 500 index advanced 2.99% to 4,300.17 points. The Nasdaq Composite added 3.19% to 12,964.86 points.

The total matched value reached 15,543 billion dong, down 12.3%, of which, the matched value on HoSE alone decreased 12.5% to 13,491 billion dong.
