US stocks rose on Wednesday (June 15) after the US Federal Reserve (Fed) raised interest rates by 75 basis points - the biggest increase since 1994 - and signaled the agency could could raise interest rates to the same extent in July, leading investors to believe that the central bank is committed to fighting inflation. At the end of the session, the Dow Jones index broke its circuit for 5 consecutive days of decline, gaining 303.70 points (equivalent to 1%) to 30,668.53 points. The S&P 500 gained 1.46% to 3,789.99, while the Nasdaq Composite added 2.5% to 11,099.15.
