US stocks struggled at the beginning of the week amid concerns about increased demand for the semiconductor chip industry, negatively affecting technology stocks. The S&P 500 index fell 0.12% to 4,140.06 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.1% to 12,644.46 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 29.07 points, or about 0.09%, to 32,832.54 points.
