The market today was almost unchanged after the collapse of two US banks. The echo from the revised Decree 08 - which is considered a "soft landing" solution for the bond market, continued to be the driving force for real estate stocks, NVL, PDR, and VHM all gained positively. Specifically, VHM has increased by more than 4.5%, which is the most influential stock contributing to the increase of VN-Index.

In contrast to the US market, Asian stocks were not too negative on March 13. Analysts say the collapse of Silicon Valley Bank is not likely to have a major contagion effect in Asia, but one person says it could be seen as a “warning” — especially for economies that haven’t hiked interest rates aggressively. Japan has bucked the trend as global central banks hike rates – while the Bank of Japan maintaining a negative interest rate of -0.1%.

The collapse of SVB (Silicon Valley Bank) in the US is changing market expectations about the Fed's plan to raise interest rates. Therefore, the USD in the international market has turned down sharply. The domestic VND/USD exchange rate at banks also plummeted on March 13.

Bloomberg: VPBank is in the final stages of a deal to sell a 15% stake to Japan’s Sumitomo Mitsui Financial Group Inc. for about USD1.4 billion. VPBank will sell more than 1 billion shares to SMBC Consumer Finance Co., a unit of Sumitomo Mitsui, for VND32,000 - VND33,000 each, said the people, who asked not to be identified because the information is private. The deal is expected to be signed later this month.
