The stock market fell sharply in a wide range after the news that Vietcombank continued to lower deposit interest rates from 5.5% to 5.3% for the 12-month term as well as the USD/VND exchange rate continued to increase sharply. All industry groups are deeply in the red, the most negative are the financial services and basic resources groups.

VCB: Vietcombank has just announced that it will apply a new deposit interest rate schedule and reduce it by 0.2% for terms more than 3 months. Specifically, for both over-the-counter and online savings forms, the bank's highest deposit interest rate is only 5.3%/year, down 0.2% compared to before the change. This is the interest rate applicable for terms of 12 months or more.
