Asian stocks crept higher on Tuesday. Japan's Nikkei 225 Index gained 0.16% and remains the best performing major Asian stock market in 2023. Bank of Japan Governor Kazuo Ueda said on Monday the likelihood of achieving the central bank's inflation target was "gradually rising" and it would consider changing policy if prospects of sustainably achieving the 2% target increase "sufficiently". Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index remained closed for the Christmas holiday.

Vietcombank continues to reduce deposit interest rates for terms under 12 months to the highest level of 3.2%/year. Specifically, for 1-month terms, Vietcombank reduces interest rates from 2.2%/year to 1.9%/year. With 3-month term, interest rate is reduced to 2.2%/year.
