The market continued to fluctuate around the reference point today. Although the market increased strongly in the morning session, with profit-taking pressure on small and medium-cap stocks, the market weakened in the afternoon session. Banking and marine shipping stocks led the market while almost all remaining sectors were in the red.

Asia-Pacific markets mostly fell Wednesday, though Japan defied the trend to extend its 34-year high. Japan’s Nikkei 225 surged 2.01% to cross the 34,000 mark for the first time since March 1990. The Japanese market increased sharply in the context of investors expecting the BOJ's tightening policy may be delayed.

On January 10, SJC gold price regained the mark of 74.7 million VND/tael for selling. At the same time, 24K and 18K gold prices also reversed and increased slightly by about 40,000 - 100,000 VND/tael at stores.
