Asian markets were mostly lower on Friday as investors weighed inflation data from Japan and a rate decision from China. The People's Bank of China kept its benchmark lending rate unchanged on Friday, with the one-year rate at 3.1% and the five-year rate at 3.6%. Notably, Japan also released November inflation figures at 2.7%.

The USD exchange rate continued to increase today but only at several banks. Currently, the USD bid price is in the range of 25,189 - 25,267 VND/USD, in which Techcombank is the bank with the highest USD bid price. Today, SBV continued to sell more than USD650 million to curb the increase of the USD/VND exchange rate. Since December 18, SBV has sold a total of nearly USD2 billion.
