U.S. stocks were mostly flat on Tuesday (July 8), after President Donald Trump confirmed he would not extend the August 1 tariff implementation deadline. At the close of the session, the S&P 500 edged down 0.07% to 6,225.52 points, while the Nasdaq Composite inched up 0.03% to 20,418.46 points. The Dow Jones lost 165.60 points (equivalent to 0.37%) to settle at 44,240.76 points.

Global gold prices fell nearly 1% amid optimism surrounding a potential trade agreement between the U.S. and its partners. Meanwhile, global oil prices rose to their highest levels in two weeks, driven by forecasts of declining U.S. oil production and renewed Houthi attacks on cargo ships in the Red Sea.
