Asian stock markets mostly gained today as investors held out hope for progress in trade negotiations ahead of the U.S. President Donald Trump’s August 1 tariff deadline. Although the Japanese stock market was closed today for a public holiday, it still drew significant attention after the ruling party suffered a historic defeat in the Upper House in the July 20 election. This development further weakened Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba’s power just ahead of the U.S. tariff deadline.

LPB: In the first half of 2025, LPB recorded a pre-tax profit of VND6,164 billion, completing 41.5% of its full-year plan. Total operating income reached VND9,601 billion, with non-interest income accounting for 27%, up 17.3% year-over-year. In terms of scale, LPBank’s outstanding credit balance reached VND368,727 billion, up 11.2% compared to the beginning of the year. The bank’s total assets also rose 16% year-over-year, reaching VND513,613 billion.
