Most Asian stock markets closed higher today, with a standout rally in Japan as the Nikkei 225 jumped 729 points, or 1.71%. Supporting this gain was Japan’s Q2 GDP growth of 0.3%, beating expectations despite the adverse effects of U.S. tariffs. In contrast, Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index fell 1% as retail sales and industrial output in China came in below forecasts.
