Asian stock markets were awash in green today as investors grew optimistic that U.S.–China trade tensions would ease in the near future. Notably, China’s Shanghai Composite Index surged more than 1.3% to 3,916.33 points, while Hong Kong’s Hang Seng Index gained over 0.6% to 26,027.55 points. Meanwhile, Japan’s stock market also rallied strongly following the historic news that the country had officially appointed its first female Prime Minister, Sanae Takaichi.

Global gold prices fell sharply by more than 2%, retreating to around 4,265 USD/oz and erasing nearly all of the previous session’s gains. However, in Vietnam’s domestic market, gold prices continued to climb strongly across all segments. SJC gold bars, plain rings, and jewelry gold all set new record highs, with Bảo Tín Minh Châu’s plain 24K gold rings soaring to 160 million VND/tael, about VND 6 million higher than SJC gold bars.
