Asian stock markets traded mixed today despite opening in the green following news of the Fed’s rate cuts. The Kospi fell 0.6%, marking its third straight losing session in South Korea. In China, the Shanghai Composite dropped 0.7%. Notably, shares of ZTE Corp plunged more than 10% after Reuters reported that the Chinese telecom equipment maker may be required to pay over USD1 billion to the U.S. government to settle allegations related to overseas bribery.

In the domestic gold market, price movements diverged sharply across segments. After a strong rebound yesterday, SJC gold bars unexpectedly reversed and declined, while plain gold rings and 24K jewelry jumped by 100,000–500,000 VND/tael at many major retailers.
