- Dow Jones rose on Friday (October 16), marking the first gain in four sessions, after strong US consumer data closed a volatile week. At the end of Friday's session, Dow Jones advanced by 112.11 points (or 0.4%) to 28,606.31 points. The S&P 500 edged up slightly to 3,483.81 points, while the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.4% to 11,671.56 points.
