- The S&P 500 index rose slightly on Wednesday (December 2), recording a new record-high close, as investors embraced the latest developments surrounding new US fiscal stimulus negotiations. . Closing Wednesday's session, the Dow Jones advanced 59.87 points (or 0.2%) to 29,883.79 points. The S&P 500 index edged up 0.2% to 3,669.01. Meanwhile, the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.1% to 12,349.37 points. This is the second consecutive session the S&P 500 closed at a record high. The Nasdaq Composite also hit an all-time high in the previous session.
