- At the end of April 15, US stocks rose to a record high after big companies reported business results and new economic data showed that consumer spending and job market are recovering. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 305.10 points, or 0.9%, to a record close of 34,035.99, marking the first to cross the 34,000 mark. The S&P 500 rose 1.1% to 4,170.42 points, also hitting a record high. Nasdaq Composite rose 1.3% to 14,038.76 points.
