- US stocks continued to rise to a new record on Friday (May 7) despite disappointing April US employment reports. Closing Friday's session, the S&P 500 advanced 0.7% to 4,232.60, hitting a record high. The Dow Jones rose 229.23 points (or 0.7%) to 34,777.76, recording another record high close. The Nasdaq Composite added 0.9% to 13,752.24 points.
