- Major US stock indexes rallied on Tuesday, July 20, as investors started buying from the Dow Jones' worst eight-month drop. At the end of the session, the Dow Jones index jumped 549.95 points (or 1.6%) to 34,511.99 points, after falling 725 points on Monday (July 19). This is also the strongest increase of Dow Jones in more than a month. The S&P 500 gained 1.52% to 4,323.06 and the Nasdaq Composite added 1.57% to 14,498.88. The Russell 2000 small-cap index also saw the strongest recovery with a 3% gain.
