- The main US stock indexes fell for the third consecutive session on Tuesday (October 12), ahead of important inflation data and the start of the third-quarter earnings season. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 117.72 points (or 0.3%) to 34,378.34 points. The S&P 500 index lost 0.2% to 4,350.64 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 0.1% to 14,465.90.
