- US stocks fell sharply on Monday (December 20), as investors faced a rebound in the number of Covid-19 infections caused by a new variant of Omicron. Ending the session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 433.28 points (or 1.23%) to 34,932.16 points, pressured by the plunge in shares of Boeing, Goldman Sachs and American Express. The S&P 500 fell 1.1% to 4,568.02 and the Nasdaq Composite lost 1.2% to 14,980.90. The Russell 2000 small-cap index fell nearly 1.6%.
