- The Nasdaq Composite Index fell for a second straight session on Tuesday, as higher interest rates appeared to weigh on technology stocks, while banking and industrial stocks jumped in a fragmented market. Closing the session, the Nasdaq Composite dropped 0.5% to 15,775.1 points, while the S&P 500 index gained 0.17% to 4,690.70 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average added 194.55 points, or 0.55%, to 35,813.80 on strength in banking and energy stocks.
