The S&P 500 index fell in volatility on Monday, May 16, as it failed to recover from last week's plunge and investors weighed the possibility of a recession in the US. Ending Monday's session, the S&P 500 index fell 0.39% to 4,008.01 points, after falling as much as 0.99% at the beginning of the session. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 1.2% to 11,662.79 points. Meanwhile, the Dow Jones index inched up 26.76 points (or 0.08%) to 32,223.42 points.

The State Treasury has just announced the adjustment of the limit for term repurchase of Government bonds in the second quarter of 2022, towards an increase compared to the previous expectation. Specifically, the total limit for repurchase of government bonds with term in the second quarter was 73,470 billion VND, significantly increased compared to the expected size of 67,027 billion VND announced in April.

Foreign investors continued to be net buyers of more than 224b dong on May 16. CTG was bought the most with 46b dong. HPG and VCI saw a net buying of 45b dong and 25b dong, respectively. On the other hand, SSI topped the list of foreign investors' net selling on HoSE with 65b dong. STB and VHM were net sold 34b dong and 26b dong respectively.
