European shares hit a near nine-month high on Monday, albeit in light trading due to a U.S. holiday, with real estate and retail stocks helping offset losses in commodity-linked sectors.

The strong rally of the USD in 2022 cannot be extended into this year. Entering the third week of the new year, the USD index fell to its lowest level since April last year. According to Bloomberg, investors are massively selling off the dollar because they believe that the US Federal Reserve (Fed) will be more lenient in tightening monetary policy.
