The stock market had a fluctuating session on the ETF restructuring day. Although falling sharply after 2PM, VNIndex immediately rebounded and closed almost unchanged from the previous session. Technology and seaport continued to lead the market, while the financial services, real estate and banking sectors were not positive.

Asia markets mostly fell on Friday after Japan’s May core inflation data came in slightly cooler than expected, jeopardizing the country’s plans to raise interest rates. The yen weakened for a seventh straight day, making Japan’s Nikkei 225 dipped 0.09%. Hong Kong’s HSI led losses, declining 1.52% as of its final hour of trading.

On June 21, the overnight interbank interest rate continued to decline slightly to 3.42%, marking a drop of more than 1% since the beginning of the week. The central exchange rate today announced by the State Bank of Vietnam was 24,256 VND/USD, up VND 1 compared to the quoted rate yesterday. The USD exchange rate at domestic banks has not recorded any significant adjustments.
