Oil & gas, financial services and basic resources were the most positive groups. In contrast, tourism & entertainment and telecommunications were quite gloomy.

China's market fell despite the country's import and export activities in December significantly exceeding expectations, with exports rising 10.7% year-on-year and surpassing Reuters' expectations of 7.3% growth year-on-year.
