Asian stock markets were mixed today. South Korea's Kospi index rose 2.02%, closing at 2,644.40 – its highest level since February 24. In contrast, Chinese stocks fell sharply, mainly due to a sell-off in automakers' shares amid concerns over a price war. Notably, BYD shares dropped more than 9% after the company announced it would cut prices on 22 electric and plug-in hybrid models through the end of June.

After a strong rebound over the weekend, domestic gold prices unexpectedly dropped sharply by noon on May 26. SJC gold bars lost up to 2 million VND/tael on the buying side, while plain gold rings and other jewelry items also saw significant price reductions.
