Meanwhile, China’s Shanghai Composite Index held near a decade-high level, despite industrial production and retail sales data coming in below expectations.

On September 15, gold prices surged by 300,000 VND/tael (bid side) compared to yesterday afternoon’s trading session. Specifically, SJC gold was traded at around 128.4 million VND/tael for bid price (up VND300,000) and 131.1 million VND/tael for ask price (unchanged from yesterday afternoon).

On the open market operations (OMO) last week (Sept 8–12): The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) offered VND69,000 billion via the collateral lending channel with 7, 14, 28, and 91-day tenors, all at an interest rate of 4.0%. Remarkably, over VND64,002 billion was successfully bid across all tenors, while VND66,206 billion matured during the same period. No SBV bills were offered. As a result, the SBV withdrew a net VND2,204 billion from the market via OMO, marking the third consecutive week of net liquidity withdrawal.
