Asian stock markets tumbled today as investors grew concerned over the U.S. Federal Reserve’s monetary policy, especially following the announcement of a new wave of tariffs. On September 25, U.S. President Donald Trump introduced a series of new tariffs, with the most notable being a 100% import tax on branded or patented pharmaceutical products, effective from October 1, unless the companies have manufacturing plants located in the U.S. Additionally, the U.S. will impose a 25% tariff on heavy trucks, 50% on kitchen cabinets and bathroom sinks, and 30% on upholstered furniture.

Today, the European Commission (EC) issued Implementing Decision EU 2025/1919, officially applying anti-dumping duties on certain hot-rolled steel products imported from Vietnam, Egypt, and Japan. In Vietnam, a 12.1% anti-dumping duty will be applied to Hung Nghiep Formosa Ha Tinh Steel Corporation and other companies. Hòa Phát Group (HPG), however, will enjoy a 0% duty.
