Asian stocks mixed today as investors entered the final trading week of the year cautiously. Most notably, the Kospi index in South Korea surged 2.2%, following news that leading South Korean online retailer Coupang announced it would spend 1.69 trillion won (approximately $1.17 billion) to compensate 34 million users affected by the large-scale data leak revealed last month.

The domestic gold market unexpectedly reversed course and fell sharply after a series of rapid increases and consecutive record highs. The price of SJC gold and gold rings plummeted by up to 1 million VND/ounce, but still maintained a difference of over 16 million VND/ounce compared to the world gold price.
