Asian stocks were mostly lower on Monday, under pressure from oil prices remaining high as the Middle East war entered its third week with no clear signs of cooling down, as well as investors' focus on the Fed meeting on March 17-18. Meanwhile, Hong Kong's Hang Seng suddenly rose sharply after industrial production and retail sales data in China in the first 2 months of the year both exceeded forecasts.

On the afternoon of March 16, domestic gold prices suddenly reversed upwards after a series of sharp declines over the weekend. SJC gold bars, plain round gold rings and gold jewelry simultaneously recovered by 100,000 – 500,000 VND/volume, re-establishing a mark of over 183 million VND/volume.
