The green color dominates in most major markets in the region. Japan's Nikkei 225 index continued to anchor around historical highs thanks to the persistent traction of semiconductor and artificial intelligence stocks, China's Shanghai Composite broke through in an uptrend, and South Korea's KOSPI rose slightly in the technology group. Going against the trend, Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index fell slightly. Regional investor sentiment has generally remained positive despite the geopolitical tensions around the Strait of Hormuz that have not subsided.

Domestic gold prices soared in most segments, bringing the price of SJC gold bars close to the threshold of 149 million VND per ton. Specifically, Saigon Gold, Silver and Gems Company and Doji Group jointly raised the price of SJC gold bars by 1.4 million VND each in both directions, to 145.6 million VND bought and 148.6 million VND sold.

The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) announced the Draft Amendment to Circular 22 issued in 2019 stipulating the limits and ratios of prudential assurance in the operation of banks and foreign bank branches. The Draft Circular adjusts the ratio of short-term capital used for medium- and long-term loans of credit institutions to a maximum of 40% from the current 30%.
