US stocks recovered in the session on July 21 thanks to semiconductor stocks, in the context of investors overcoming pressure from the Iran conflict to focus on earnings reports. Shares of 3M rose more than 7% after the industrial giant's second-quarter results were better than expected. In addition, General Motors reported revenue and profit results that exceeded expectations in the second quarter, helping the stock rise nearly 5%.
