US stocks fell in the session of July 22 due to pressure from oil prices when the Middle East conflict has not shown signs of cooling down. Federal funds futures traders are forecasting a nearly 34% chance that the Fed will raise interest rates this month, up from 10% a week ago. According to the CME FedWatch tool, traders are also forecasting a 78% chance of a rate hike of at least 0.25 percentage points in September.

Crude oil prices continued to rise in the morning session on Thursday (July 23), as supply concerns continued to increase due to the escalating conflict between the US and Iran. The U.S. military said it had carried out its 11th consecutive night of airstrikes against Iran. U.S. President Donald Trump has said Washington will bomb and destroy a bridge or a power plant every time Tehran attacks ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz.
