- Stocks tied to the economic recovery jumped after a stronger-than-expected jobs report on Friday sent the Dow Jones and S&P 500 indexes to all-time highs. . Closing Friday's session, the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 144.26 points, or 0.4%, to an all-time high of 35,208.51. The S&P 500 index advanced nearly 0.2% to close a new record high of 4,436.52 points, while the Nasdaq Composite index dropped 0.4% to 14,835.76 points.
