U.S. stocks fell in a volatile session on Tuesday (May 31), as investors closed a tough month that saw the S&P 500 narrowly fall into a bear market amid inflation and recession fears. At the end of the session, the Dow Jones index dropped 222.84 points (or 0.7%) to 32,990.12 points. The S&P 500 fell 0.6 percent to 4,132.15. The Nasdaq Composite Index lost 0.4 percent to 12,081.39. The index was up 0.5% at its intraday high and down by nearly 1.6% at its intraday low.
