US stocks fell in the session of August 17 after a number of retail businesses reported second-quarter business results and the US Federal Reserve (Fed) released the minutes of the July meeting. Accordingly, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 171.69 points, or 0.5%, to 33,980.32 points. The S&P 500 index fell 0.72% to 4,274.04 points. The Nasdaq Composite Index fell 1.25% to 12,938.12 points.

On HoSE, foreign investors ended a series of 5 consecutive net buying sessions with a net selling of VND48 bil. Foreign investors on HoSE were the strongest net sellers of KBC with VND72 bil. VHM and HCM were net sold at VND71 bil and VND43 bil, respectively. On the other side, HDB was bought the most with the value of VND83 bil.
