he Dow Jones Industrial Average fell for a fourth straight session on Wednesday (May 24), as US lawmakers struggled to reach an agreement on the national debt ceiling. U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Kevin McCarthy said at a news conference late in the morning that negotiators were still at odds over spending limits and blamed Democrats for starting negotiations too late in the process. However, he also believes that negotiations can make progress soon.
