The recent announcement by the U.S. Federal Reserve regarding their projected rate hike and tighter monetary policy has had a significant impact on U.S. stocks, with interest rate sensitive megacap stocks Microsoft Corp, Apple Inc and Nvidia Corp pulling the Nasdaq down most. The U.S. central bank held interest rates steady as expected, but the rate-setting Federal Open Market Committee said "inflation remains elevated" and Fed Chair Jerome Powell said the Fed's job is to lower it.
