The S&P 500 index rose to a new record in session on Wednesday as signs of a slowing economy signaled the possibility of an early interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve. ADP data showed private-sector job growth fell short of forecasts in June, while weekly jobless claims were higher than economists had forecast.
