The stock market declined for the 3rd consecutive day with a weak performance towards the end of the session, although VNIndex started the morning quite enthusiastic after the positive US inflation data for June. Chemicals and healthcare were the most positive groups today. Meanwhile, food&beverages, basic materials, and financial services were quite weak.

Asian markets had mixed movements today, inwhich Nikkei 225 was the most notable as it dropped sharply by 2.45% after a series of previous record highs. In contrast, Hong Kong Hang Seng index was up 2.7% as China’s exports in June rose 8.6% YoY, beating expectations of economists.

On July 12, global gold prices jumped more than 1% and surpassed USD2,400/oz after US's CPI unexpectedly fell last month, boosting the Fed's chances of cutting interest rates. In the domestic market, 24K gold jewelry price increased sharply by VND700,000/tael, narrowing the gap with SJC gold prices.
