The S&P 500 rose in a volatile trading session on Wednesday (May 7), after the U.S. Federal Reserve signaled that risks of an economic recession and high inflation are increasing. At the close of trading on May 7, the S&P 500 gained 0.44% to 5,631.27 points, while the Nasdaq Composite edged up 0.27% to 17,738.16 points. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose by 284.97 points (or 0.70%) to 41,113.97 points.
