S&P 500 recorded its second consecutive gain and closed at a new all-time high, edging up 0.06%. This marks the 11th time in 2025 that the index has set a new record. The Dow Jones also rose by nearly 180 points during the session, while the Nasdaq Composite fell around 0.4% as chip stocks faced heavy selling pressure. Notably, Dow Jones and S&P 500 futures saw slight increases in Tuesday evening’s session after President Donald Trump announced on Truth Social that the U.S. had reached a trade agreement with Japan.

Global gold prices unexpectedly surged more than 1% overnight as investors turned their attention to an upcoming speech by U.S. Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. This will be his first public statement since rumors emerged suggesting he might resign due to pressure from the Trump administration.
