U.S. stocks experienced volatile trading due to U.S.–China trade tensions. The market opened in the red after China tightened controls over global maritime transport the night before. Major indexes later rebounded from morning losses, with the S&P 500 staying in positive territory for most of the session. However, U.S. stocks reversed slightly lower toward the end of trading after President Trump once again criticized China on Truth Social, saying the country was refusing to buy U.S. soybeans in “an act of economic hostility.”
