The Dow Jones Industrial Average hit a new record high on Tuesday (October 21), while the S&P 500 remained nearly unchanged. Specifically, Coca-Cola and 3M supported the Dow’s advance after both companies reported better-than-expected earnings, rising 4.1% and 7.7%, respectively. Gold prices recorded their biggest single-day drop in five years on Tuesday (October 21), as investors took profits after the metal hit an all-time high of 4,381.21 USD/oz. By the end of the session, spot gold plunged 5.5% to 4,115.26 USD/oz, the lowest level in a week, marking the sharpest decline since August 2020.
